  • I’ve been there and all I can say is that the brain is a miraculous organ and can heal really well from a lot of trauma. You just have to stop damaging it, learn how to work with your brain rather than having your brain work for you, and exercise it. Challenge yourself to learn an easy skill, then another, then another.

  • I’ve had my posts swamped by downvotes at least once by saying “I not pro-Palestine, I’m pro-People” as if I have to favor factions rather than, you know, being against the victimization of people who did nothing to deserve it quite independently of whatever label they’re tagged with.

I think part of the reason being pro-people makes others angry is because everyone is so polarized politically. A lot more people than usual are approaching politics expecting that you’re either supporting my ideals or not supporting them. Which may as well be opposing them and opposing ‘our’ ideals is your moral failing. Nuance is gone, the political center is gone. At least until there are some serious changes.

  • There have been a few techno-cults and tech-worshipers. The one that always comes to my mind in these discussions is Terry Davis and his creation Temple OS. Terry Davis was a troubled man who did many inappropriate things, which did hurt people, and he did eventually take his own life. With that said, he believed that the Christian God exists and a person can hear him through computers. With that belief he built Temple OS, God’s digital temple. It’s really interesting.

  • Vegas thrives in two economic climates, when things are good, and when things are bad. In the middle gambling usually slows and Vagas is boring. When the trend pushes people to have a lot, they’ll gamble a lot because they can afford to lose. When the trend pushes people to have little, they’ll gamble away what little they have at the chance of a big payday. When things are sliding up and down that’s when people are more conservative with their money and rates of gambling decline. Not quite so broke they’re desperate, but not so flush with cash they’re reckless. Right now we’re kind of in a declining economic climate, but it hasn’t hit the bottom yet and generally people are uncertain if it will.

Plus it doesn’t help that tourists going to Vegas can be abducted and shipped away to a prison half way across the world before anyone at home would even notice.
