  • As someone who does own an X1. I haven’t yet tried the other options of slicer or gone deeper down the g-code rabbit hole. I’ve only had it a few months. I bought knowing that this was a possibility but did so because of the simplicity, quality, and not wanting to spend endless hours tweaking.

One oversight I did have was the possibility that this could eventually lead to a cricut type situation of having a subscription model to even use the hardware. This means I will not be upgrading and will be keeping a closer eye on the changes that are made.

I’m guessing you had to actually grow up and care for your own needs and figure out how to navigate the real world.

This emerald-spoon fed motherfucker has never had to do a thing for himself. The most significant things he learned after preschool was likely reading and writing.

  • Yes they do and I do add my own tech but my experience with some of these devices has not been great.

I have LG TVs which I connected to the network and have been updated over the years to have really bad UX and are now polluted with ads.

I had an LG sound bar that was great for a while until it completely stopped working. Powers on, all functions seem to work, just no sound. Originally it worked as a Chromecast device too, but they stopped doing updates and Google stopped working with the old API.

My fear is that eventually there will be an update that bricks a device. Now I’ve taken them off the network, but how long before we have TVs that require Internet to even function.

These smart TVs have a lot more hardware and software than they need which means a lot more to break.
