These are both on the Lenovo Legion Go S. The significance here is that there’s both official OEM windows and official OEM steamOS for this device.

Windows uses a lot of power just existing, so you can’t get any of the windows handhelds down to a low power consumption. I remember when the Rig Ally first came out, the verge tested it using 5-8w of power on the steam deck, and using 16-22w of power on the Ally. Some of that is the hardware (the Deck has a really power efficient chip for low power games), but a lot of it is windows.
Yeah you’re right, I had mostly been looking at the difference between the steam deck and legion Go S on that chart and barely even noticed the difference between windows on the legion Go S there.
My understanding is it’s mostly just the advantage of not having windows running hogging resources, so it should be a bigger gain for CPU bound games.
**Edit ** There can be performance gains from using vulkan over DirectX too, so there probably are GPU gains as well. It will depend on the game though
I think this screenshot is pretty telling.
Google maps auto suggests that restaurant name if you start searching for it, but then fails to actually pull up the location. Checking the actual maps location shows nothing there.
It’s pretty wild that this game is still in development, I remember reading about it back in 2012/13 ish.
Most models now are .safetensor files which are supposed to be safe, but I know in the past there were issues where other model filetypes actually could have attack payloads in them.
Apparently the video was presented after the verdict was already issued. This video had no impact on the actual outcome of the trial, and was more of just a closing statement.
So the judge didn’t approve this a testimony, but just found it emotionally touching.
As some others have said, the problem is probably that windows still has the drive locked. When windows “shuts down”, it actually is only closing your programs and going into hibernation. This leaves the drive in a read only state, which will prevent you from being able to resize the partition.
To do a full shutdown, you can hold shift while pressing the shutdown button on the start menu. Alternatively run shutdown /s /f /t 0
in a administrative command prompt.
I just recently bought a dryer. When I first got my printer, I was printing pretty constantly and didn’t really have an issue with wet filament. But these days I’ve slowed down my printing frequency a lot, and I’ve definitely noticed that the print quality gets worse the longer I’ve had the roll unsealed.
Japan in general has weird copyright/patent laws. For example the whole palworld patent lawsuits.
Good news is it probably won’t affect people outside of Japan, except that it will stunt games/etc made in Japan.
The most common cause of deaths from lightning is from ground current, where lightning travels through the ground, goes up one leg, and back down the other leg back into the ground. My understanding on it is that different parts of the ground have different conductivity, and if your feet are on patches of ground with different charge levels the lightning can go through your legs as the most conductive path between the two points. For similar reasons, I was once told that the safest way to move across the ground near a downed power pole (if you absolutely had to for some reason) was either to shuffle your feet while keeping them as close together as possible, or to hop on one foot.
If you’re caught outside during a thunderstorm, the best plan of action is to move as fast as you can to a safer place
institutions such as the American Hiking Society and the city of Bellmead in Texas continue to include it in their lightning safety guidelines.
A lot of times when hiking or backpacking, you may be hours from a safer place. In those cases, it probably is better to crouch than to try to run down a mountain during a thunderstorm.
The actual crouching to lower your height may not help much, but keeping your feet close together to minimize surface contact probably does help reduce your chances of dying to a nearby strike.
Or new incognito window.
I feel like this won’t stop anyone who was already refusing to use a Microsoft account for windows. Anyone who was already bypassing the account requirement will still do so, it just will be more difficult. They’ve accomplished nothing except further pissing off some of their most competent user base.
Definitely agree. Most printers are sold at a loss with the plan to milk the buyer long term through ink and other services. EcoTank printers are more expensive, but Epson makes their money at the time of purchase. The ink is extremely cheap, and there’s no way for them to tell if you use 3rd party ink at all. We’ve been printing out textbooks with ours, which would be financially disastrous with a traditional inkjet printer.
Overall I’ve bought two, one for home and one for the office at work. The cheaper ink has paid for the printers several times over now.
Linux too, at least in most applications I’ve tried. Some will ask you when you ctrl+shift+v if you want to paste formatted or unformatted text.
It still might be worth trying another DE/WM for a bit to see if the issue is KDE exclusive. It might help you narrow down the cause.
Generally the same culture, but skewed towards more tech savvy types and online-centric culture groups. It’s a lot smaller than reddit, which helps a lot with the quality of interactions, but I think if it grew enough it would end up very close to reddit culture.
