I like fish because it requires no setup to be nice to use and the scripting is more intuitive when not doing it constantly.
That was maybe true once, but it’s fading into nothing but a meme. Half life is just not relevant for newer generations.
But that may just be the opportunity… Giving them a reason to care.
No need to make up for it, just continue the deficit normally :) Consistency is what matters, and breaks are totally fine as long as you are moving towards your goal!

Easy to set up, and just works. I can’t share any of the OP’s annoyances - everything is fast. Admittedly, I don’t really use the web client. Just the Android app from F-Droid and the linux AUR package element-desktop.
The problem is that the stock OS is a walled garden. No common user will flash their phone.

With Shift + Pos1 or End you can mark text from cursor until beginning or end of line! I use that often.
I had 7g once.

I use pipewire with Ardour and Neural DSP VSTs (over wine) with zero issues on EndeavourOS. I really hadn’t expected that. Now, I generally just use this stuff to not have to buy many physical pedals so I rarely do recording, but that has worked as well.
You seem to be way more advanced than me in that regard, so I can’t say if it would work for you, but it was so much easier and better than when I tried the same thing years ago. I’d suspect that GuitarRig works as well, though I haven’t tried. I may just do so this weekend, but can’t promise.

Corporations and companies parasitically destroy everything human in the name of money. If it’s not a non-profit dedicated to the purpose of providing access to mods, it’s just a question of time. Best to just get a new thing started.
