State Sen. Kevin Corbin calls out “conspiracy theory junk” about unburied bodies and FEMA stealing money.

A Republican senator in the North Carolina legislature has issued a public plea for people to stop spreading conspiracy theories about the disaster recovery efforts in areas ravaged by flooding from Hurricane Helene.

In a Thursday afternoon Facebook post, state Sen. Kevin Corbin, who represents the state’s westernmost area, asked his followers for a favor: “Will you all help STOP this conspiracy theory junk that is floating all over Facebook and the internet about the floods in WNC.”

While the politician can go screw himself, the effect of these crazy conspiracy theories is felt far and wide by regular people. It’s not just Republicans that are affected by this.

We should all keep that in mind.

Hopefully this time people will learn that baseball bats are the only solution for neighbors who spout Republican lies since their own personal safety is at stake.

Look, I’m all for accountability. But right now, with respect to Helene and recovery/rescue efforts, is not the time. It’s a Good Thing ™ that Republicans come out and denounce these falsehoods, because hopefully their base will listen. It’s important that in this, among other things, we learn to work together as a country.

my wife and I visited my parents yesterday.

        The base isn’t listening.

Yeah…it’s good that they denounce these falsehoods… Once it affects them!

It’s convenient isn’t it? Spread falsehoods about Haitians, or just saying nothing, but when those falsehoods start affecting them, suddenly it’s time for restraint.

I’m sorry but Republicans have, at best, enabled the alt right monster. Biden is helping them. If he wants people to stop spreading falsehoods, he should have started with things that didn’t affect him.

But then again if he did that, he’d be a Democrat.

So does that mean it’s finally the time to talk about gun control? What about the failed violent insurrection at the Capitol?

Is it at least the right time to point out that Republicans want to dismantle the weather monitoring system?

Who is this Kevin Corbin? He is a low level senator that I hardly know. He came to me tears in his eyes and begged me for a job in 2025. I never heard of him before. Many people say he is a RINO. They said Sir! he is the most liberal Rebublican ever, even worse that LYIN LIZ CHENEY.

I love that Seth Meyers almost always includes ‘tears streaming down his face’ when doing a fake Trump speech. Because he says it all the fucking time. People just cry around him constantly apparently.

Maybe people actually are constantly crying around him?? …Maybe their eyes can’t help but water up because of his reportedly horrible body odor.

Also the “big man, strong man” and “sir”. He’s gotten the energetic Trump down pat.

I look forward to it every time he impersonates Trump or Giuliani. They both crack me up whenever he does them.

“The biggest issue is rumors and fake memes and photos of people being trapped in areas around the county, and we send folks out to rescue them, and there’s no one there to be rescued,” Prather said, noting that such efforts require resources that could be used elsewhere.

Just wow. There’s nothing more Republicans hate more than themselves. They rely on federal aid more than any other states but hate the government. They rely on government to save them from their poorly designed infrastructure but then make false reports of likily fellow Republicans trapped. Only to waste resources! Everything is projection for them. Don’t want to give into your homosexuality, so you outlaw it and suck dudes off on the grayhound bathroom. Can’t afford health care? Insure (pun intended) no one else can afford it either. On and on they go. Their belief system is a cult of self destruction.

    All I hear is

“Government bad! Government bad! Government bad!”.

<crisis that affects me> " WE NEED HELP FROM THE GOVERNMENT".

All while all the other assholes that aren’t affected going “Government bad! Government bad! Government bad!”

And Vance and all the others making up stories and admitting to making up stories to help…just help someone else.

The country singer Jon Rich, for example, told his million-plus followers on X, formerly Twitter, that a friend in law enforcement reported to him they had already “used over 500 body bags, and there are bodies in trees, mud, cars, houses, everywhere,” and that the federal government had provided no support.

    Yeah, fuck that guy.
