Apple always does this before a big launch. Most likely they are applying site updates, major patches, etc.

Side note: thanks to Apple Card changes, this is the first phone I won’t be preordering.

Hold up, what Apple Card changes?

Edit: I searched and found out Goldman Sachs wants to end partnership with Apple due to losing money.

If you make payments over time (0% interest) they now require you to select a carrier. This means you get charged an activation fee for activating tje new device. It also means you can’t use that option if your carrier is not Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile.

Launch time is 8AM EST. You think Apple can’t have the “updates” ready well before? Lmao that’s not an excuse.

I was able to get on order in via mobile app and a couple more via web. It took 30min of refreshing; longer than the usual 5min.

    Good luck

It took me about 15 minutes to get in on the app, but it couldn’t load my info. 5 minutes later I finally got through on the website and ordered without issue. It was frustrating because it’s normally, like you said, only about 5 minutes.
