Garfield Minus Garfield was interesting because of the silly situations that came from the otherwise unmodified comics.
Maybe it’s just me, but changing the dialog so that it makes sense without Heathcliff being there feels like it kind of takes away from the whole gimmick.
I’ve been seeing these for ages and I have never understood what’s funny about either the version with or without Heathcliff. It’s quite bizarre to find something so far removed from my sense of humour that I don’t get it even once.
Maybe this will help
I’d anything this just provided me with a well worded explanation for why I don’t like it:
It’s zany but not fun, there’s no joke, just “Here’s a thing, and here’s another thing, these two things don’t normally go together, but here they are together, isn’t that funny?”
His upbringing?
His parents are in jail! I assume his mom is there on prostitution charges
This was funnier than any heathcliff comic I’ve seen so far
The fact that we have no idea why Iggy lives with his grandparents has caused a lot of speculation. And it’s not even a NAPG thing. It goes back to the beginning in the 70s. Back when a kid living with their grandparents usually meant prison or death took the parents out of the picture.
In order to remove Heathcliff I occasionally need to change the text that refers to him to completely remove him. Otherwise there is a ghost of Heathcliff and that won’t do.
Fixed it for you:
Lol much better.
He’s using the Force to levitate the fish, it makes sense!
I like to imagine it like the scene where he levitates the spaceship when he’s training Luke. It’s all serious and focused until the shopkeep spots him then frantic hilarity ensues.
Kinda surprised it wasn’t a hot dog. He was partial to them in Empire.
for some reason, this is the first time, I had to think of “I’m Henry the eighth, I am”
