Armenia said on Wednesday it would host a joint military exercise with the United States next week, a development that Russia said was cause for concern.

The Armenian Defence Ministry said the purpose of the Sept. 11-20 “Eagle Partner 2023” exercise was to prepare its forces to take part in international peacekeeping missions.

A U.S. military spokesperson said 85 US soldiers and 175 Armenians would take part. He said the Americans - including members of the Kansas National Guard which has a 20-year-old training partnership with Armenia - would be armed with rifles and would not be using heavy weaponry.

They mean well (in their crazy, stupid, fucked up way) but they actually have a much higher body count.

Everybody “means well”, hitler thought he was reviving the German people from their humiliation at Versailles and that any price was reasonable.

That and $2.50 will buy you a pack of gum.

The only.concern Russia should have is where all those missing Russians are that keep disappearing into Ukraine. Putin says they weren’t killed. So, maybe they are just wandering around lost? Maybe finding the thousands of missing citizens should be Russia’s first “concern” instead of worrying about what other countries are doing.

No one is planning to invade Russia, so Putin’s idiotic concerns should fall only on deaf ears.

Crimea is theirs to reclaim. Places in Russia, used to stage or support the war of aggression against Ukraine are fair targets - even for occupation until a peace treaty.

I don’t see Ukraine picking up new territory from this, which seems like a key distinction. Reclaim, yes. New, no.

Yeah, that’s most likely. Though if the Russian federation were to collapse during a period where some of their territory is occupied by Ukraine, I could see some of it going to them. Though IMO it should be by (legitimate) referendum where they decide their own fate.

They were never worried about their own security. What NATO et al. are threatening is their ability to blackmail the neighbors.

Armenia also sent their first aid to Ukraine recently. Maybe they’ve decided which horse to back.

It’s OK, Russia. You can stay on your base getting drunk while real soldiers train the Armenians.

Anything we can do to help Armenians defend themselves against Azerbaijan is OK with me.

I feel bad for our Armenian brothers, they are in a terrible spot geographically speaking. A country with western values landlocked and surrounded by idiots.
