Protesting the direction of the country under Donald Trump, people will gather Saturday in the nation’s capital and communities across the U.S. for “ No Kings ” demonstrations — what the president’s Republican Party is calling “Hate America” rallies.
This is the third mass mobilization since Trump’s return to the White House and it is expected to be the largest.
It comes against the backdrop of a government shutdown that not only has closed federal programs and services, but is testing the core balance of power as an aggressive executive confronts Congress and the courts in ways that organizers warn are a slide toward American authoritarianism.
Whattup Canada. Republicans here can’t help themselves when it comes to doublespeak. They usually write up bills with titles like “Protecting Children’s Lunch Choice In School” (hyperbolic, but not by much) and it ends up being something wretched like declaring cafeteria staff to be illegal and kid’s lunches can only be purchased with Trump Coin or some bullshit. We’re in Hell
Every single person I saw that drove by the protest today flipping people off or shouting hateful messages was in a pick-up truck. Every single one of those trucks was driven by what appeared to be a young (20 or 30 something year old) white man. There weren’t a lot of them, so it was pretty easy to keep track.
But there’s no point in wasting time worrying about those hateful people – there were hundreds upon hundreds of vehicles filled with all kinds of different people driving by honking, waving, blowing kisses, and showing their support. True diversity. Even tractor trailers and giant trucks were honking, not to mention the minivans and SUVs and yes, even Teslas.
And this was in rural, small town USA.
There was no hate coming from the protesters. Even when the the haters drove by, everyone just wooted louder, thanked them, or just shouted back things like “we still love you” or “we’re fighting for your rights, too”.
Maybe it accomplishes nothing in the immediate sense, but it does prove we don’t hate America. So, we can add yet another tired and lame lie to the GOP rhetoric that’s been proven as such.
As a fequent protest goer I talk with friends how I like counter protestors. There were like 3 in chicago and without them it would not be so obvious how few they are. Whats even better is as the group of normal people grow every day, every week, every month you see their number stay the same. Its all they got.
Boston has a massive turnout!

We only hate the things the heritage foundation, Miller, Vought and Theil are trying to do to the country to benefit themselves… Treasonous assholes
Everyone - be safe out there today and keep a look out for large trucks… especially in Florida. Crazy maga Nazis are going to drive over protestors today.
no crazy maga trucks running over protestors in chicago.
They might. But we’re still going.
Today, we still have the right to protest. And this has a good chance to become the largest protest in American history.
I can’t imagine missing it.
I hate that I have to miss it (sick and contagious)
I appreciate your thoughtfulness.
You people literally founded your country because you had a beef with kings. How does going back to the spirit of what forged your self-proclaimed “greatest country on earth” equal “hating America”?
Or is this something I’m just too Canadian to understand?
Maga which is all republicans at this point given the speaker of the house comments, hate the constitution which is america. They are populists though so they claim the flag and the anthem and them are america not the literal law of the land that lays out what it is and how it functions.
It’s projection. Republicans hate America
Republicans hate democracy because it means minorities, other religions, the poors, and women have equal say.
It’s the tried and true Republican tactic - accuse your opposition of what you are actually doing. Works well with the dolts.
The issue is that a good third of America is now supporting a fascist megalomaniac that wants to be king.
To MAGAts, whatever their dictator Trump wants is American. Anything that gets in his way isn’t.
Depressing, but simple.
They don’t want women/people of color/lgbtq to have the right to chose their King leader.
Huh? Of course the fascists decry any show of resistance.
Hating the state and the Republican party is not the same as hating America. The Republicans and Trump do not own us and we have absolute zero obligation to have any loyalty to them.
Quite to the contrary, trump is anti American in everyway, he is antidemocratic, anticonstitution, anti limited government. He spits in the face of everything that America stands for and made America one of the best nations in history. He’s also a criminal and a thief and a liar, and an authoritarian who thinks he is above citizens of the U.S.
I’d have just stopped at Trump being a Russian agent, but everything else is true too.
I’m excited to take my preschoolers to their first protest! Won’t be able to stay long, but feels worth it to introduce them to good political principles
Please be safe. My local protest in a relatively affluent suburb will be fine, but others may turn ugly.
There will be 2700+ protests. There will be far more protestors than cops. Which is the whole point.
They only need to show ONE protest the deepest cruelty to frighten off any one else from sticking out their neck.
Dude, grow a pair.
