At least its better than no market regulation. I’d rather have the “objective moderate wing of fascism” than current fascism

The problem with the lesser evil mentality is that you are trapped in a cycle of permanently choosing things that are marginally better than the other bad thing, instead of building power to impose our own thing.

I’d rather be shot by a 9mm than a 30-06, but if I can work toward being the one with the gun that would be preferable to both.

You gotta keep track of the big picture, because when you look back at the past 100 years of Western history it’s just been workers getting a carrot and a stick that tricks them into remaining complacent and not doing much substantial work to break the capitalist system. The social democratic mentality does nothing but keep that cycle going and diverts energy from building parallel power structures capable of actually transitioning capitalism into socialism.

Fair hiring practices state to not look at political bias. If he is looking just at the job application, there will not be anything stating political views. It’s literally what he said. All of you are twisting his words around.

True that we are twisting his words, but also true that Mamdani has stated that he would order the arrest of Netanyahu if he were to enter NYC. There could be a question similar to “would you support\enforce the arrest orders of the ICC and NYC mayoral office”. Again I agree that we are twisting his words, but I think Mamdani is twisting his own words in order to form a “big tent” of support that contains opposing ideas.

Normalising political purity tests for public service cuts both ways, beware what you wish for.

New York has the largest Jewish population outside of Israel. From the very few sources I’ve seen, about half of non-israeli Jews are zionist. The question remains on how you would be able to hire qualified Jews without discriminating against a large portion of the population.

Don’t confuse Judaism with Israel. It is still the individual persons choice. additionally what role does this have in New York? I just don’t like how soft Mamdani became. It would have been defend-able if this was his original position.

??? Mamdani is running for mayor of New York. There’s a significant amount of Jews in positions of power that he’ll have to work with. Hiring around Zionism is going to be challenging as well. It sucks, yes, but I’m hoping he will be able to maneuver around them efficiently enough.

Yes, but I would say not to confuse Judaism with Zionism. Most Zionists are evangelicals. It’s not really “working around jews in power” It would primarily be not hiring evangelical white-jewish nationalist zionists.

Is there any reputable numbers with Zionism and demographics? I haven’t seen anything that isn’t biased. I’m not confusing them, really. I’m just saying that if the Jewish community is about half pro-israel zionists, he’s going to inevitably end up dealing with them. And if the highest amount of zionists are from the Jewish community in New York, it’s going to be hard not to discriminate against them if we want to exclude zionists from public offices/positions.

Just ask anyone, including Jews, Gentiles and Muslims, if they support the genocide or not. It’s not like many will lie. People willingly state their fervor for the killing.

“Do you support the violence and starvation in Gaza?”

      “No”

      “Hired!”
