This show of force, welcomed by some Palestinians after months of lawlessness, could now threaten the fragile ceasefire, especially as all living hostages from Hamas’s 7 October 2023 attack have been released.

The Hamas-run police maintained a high degree of public security after the militants seized power in Gaza 18 years ago while also cracking down on dissent. They largely melted away in recent months as Israeli forces seized large areas of Gaza and targeted Hamas security forces with airstrikes.

yes but it’s not “the religion” that’s the problem. “ain’t no war but class war” is not just a cool slogan, it’s practically newtonian fact.

      Lemmy won’t hear it dude.

The overwhelming opinion here is that

      rELiGiOn bAD!

For some reason lots of people here can’t seem to see that class war is the goal, and those in power using religion to achieve that goal.

Religion itself has nothing to do with it. It’s class war all the way using whatever means necessary to keep the poor in their place.

Religion is a control mechanism that was used to police communities before law enforcement was feasible.

Today, it is still a control mechanism that, instead of being ran by governments, is just unregulated cults available for any well-spoken con man to take advantage of.

Saying that we would still have genocide without religion is like saying quadruple amputees could technically still rape someone. But we both know it’s way less likely.

It’s their religion that justifies the Zionists exterminting anyone who exists on “their land”

When has a government consciously made the decision to genocide a group of people because it was finantially a good idea?

There usually isn’t a reasonable reason to do these things, which is why religion is used, because it lets people accept unreasonable explanations for what happens in the world around them.

Look, i get it. Religion is important to a lot of people. Mostly because they have been forced from childhood to internalize it, but it isn’t healthy for society.

            when has a government

            cough: the irish potato “famine.”

look. religion is bad. people are bad. capitalists are bad.

i just tend to think it all boils down to peoples castes/class that really drives this “bad.”
