The regime openly wishing violence and retribution against Americans for opposing fascism is a recent development. The USA has always treated the left (socialists and communists) badly and been more favorable to the far right, but this level of open intimidation and threat against everyone from centre-right leftwards is different and new. This is the USA’s first government that’s openly trying to construct a violent fascist dictatorship in which people with the wrong views are disappeared.
The Biden admin designated anti-capitalism as extremism, and oversaw the construction of the Cop City style military bases where the fascists will be operating out of for their war on the cities. When ICE started the raids earlier this year, Democrats issued a public thank you letter to the ICE agents.

also the violence and retribution was never voiced, only acted upon against the likes of the black panthers; martin luther king jr; malcom x; etc.
Liberals biggest gripe with Trump is that he says the quiet part out loud. They want their fascism with a mask of decorum and respectability.
