At least one journalist was hospitalized after Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were seen cursing out, grabbing and shoving reporters on a public elevator.According to amNewYork, ICE agents were apprehending a suspected immigrant inside the elevator at 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan o…
I want their factional fascist ideology to go away too, but if this is sincere, then the red-hat-blue-hat hate politics of MAGA has already won. And that’s sad indeed.
Edit: Getting labeled and flamed for advocating against the hypothetical of letting a random human being burn to death solely based on “bumper sticker” as justification. This world is friggin wild. Lol
Edit 2: Sorry I didn’t realize “Let’s not prime ourselves to knee-jerk dehumanize human beings based on flippant things like bumper stickers” was such a controversial take. I’m not “bold sidesing”. Their side is clearly horrible and we’re supposed to be better than that.
Maybe I was foolish to let an appeal to human empathy interrupt a good old-fashioned edgy keyboard jihad.
I’ve said my piece. Have a good one.
“Blue hat”? Is there a virginity armor slogan hat for the petty bourgeois center-left, too?
LOL maybe?
But at the time it felt like the most expedient way of criticizing the mentality of
“Two sides agreeing it’s okay to commit increasingly heinous violence and horrors on each other out of inflated sense of moral superiority.”
Nah. I’ve hated nazis a lot longer than MAGA has been around.
Not worth reasoning with fascists.
Oh fuck off. Republicans will never stop and you’re a liberal fascist yourself with your sentiment here.
Sorry but you’re gonna run out of friends pretty quick with that attitude, because eventually you’ll all be attacking and labeling each other for your views falling short of some arbitrary perfection.
The above statement was joking about letting a random idiot who posed no threat die horrifically because of a label. If that’s the monsters we’re willing to become, then so much for the empathy we claim to champion.
It’s simply a statement that didn’t need to be made.
I recall everyone being justifiably disgusted at fascist muppets cheering on the murders of their political opponents by unhinged psychopaths drunk off their rhetoric.
But it’s okay when we do it? That’s MAGA shit. That’s tankie shit. That kind of tribalism is the domain of the worst kinds of assholes.
We must defend ourselves, fight fascists, but if we lose our humanity in the process and get off to thoughts of our dead neighbors over stupidity, then what’s the friggin point anymore?
Anyway, hope you’re doing alright today. Stay safe out there.

Ah yes, the ol “they go low, we go high” bullshit.
How’s that working out for us?
I don’t recall supporting or pushing any such bullshit.
That’s a weak political “strategy” slogan, by weak slightly-less-right politicians, to motivate their ineffective and self-interested party.
I’m not a politician. I’m just another working class person on the internet trying to do the best I can.
My message was really simple without adding a metric ton of preconceived notions: Dehumanizing other human beings is the quickest way to the wrong side of history. Simple as.
We fight our enemies because we must. We can win by whatever means we must use. If we choose to delight in and celebrate the death and suffering of non-combatants, we’re no longer fighting evil. We’re just another stupid faction in yet another of history’s cyclical doomed conflicts.
The fact that “We shouldn’t fantasize about our neighbors burning to death, however stupid they may be.” is a controversial idea, might be why nobody can seem to meaningfully rally their opposition together.
