Minnesota's Democratic Farmer-Labor Party has stripped democratic socialist Omar Fateh of the endorsement for Minneapolis mayor he won at last month's convention. Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar said, "This decision will be a stain on our party for years to come."
As a result, access to party voter rolls, which usually only go to the candidate endorsed by the DFL, will now be given to everyone, which could considerably hurt Fateh’s chances of unseating Frey.
Can someone explain to this European why this is so bad?
I can understand that the rolls only going to the incumbent will make unseating them harder.
Shouldn’t the rolls be given to any candidate, so it’s a fair competition?
(Under the weird US voting system)
Voting in the states has never been fair competition. Voting rights and voting methods have been major areas of contention in the states since we started.
