I recently spoke with some old friends about the CDC, all of whom are chief physicians or specialists in Germany, Switzerland, and Spain: They all agreed that the CDC is largely defunct now. Apparently, almost all competent staff have been dismissed, meaning that the very important tasks of this organization can no longer be fulfilled. Unfortunately, the assessment of all my friends in medicine was unanimous: they all believe that the CDC can no longer be taken seriously—a great loss for medicine worldwide.
