I am in a similar situation. Except mine was forced to leave the country over strict immigration policy, as she isn’t a citizen here.
I mean, that sucks, but that’s not the end of the world. You can still communicate with her, and either of you can emigrate.
I visited her a few weeks ago. Still cost me £700. So not something I can be doing often. She is trying to get back closer to me.
