Hopefully this is just a meme because if you actually do this it’s more wasteful than just using a disposable bag once and bringing your reusable ones next time.
It’s kinda weird around here, because the law doesn’t ban paper bags, but all the stores around me stopped carrying them in favor of thicker ‘reusable’ plastic bags.
At least the ‘reusable’ plastic bags fold up and fit nice in my purse, so I can actually reuse them, but I’m pretty sure most people treat them as single use plastic.
Provided that you’re not throwing the excess out, it’s not too bad? They’re reusable but they do wear out eventually, and when that happens you can just draw from the backlog.
Alternatively you can always use them for other things - I don’t keep 37 of them, but the handful I have I’m always using for stuff which isn’t just groceries.

Many places aren’t allowed to give disposable ones anymore.
At all?? They don’t even have paper bags?
Yes
Catch me in line breaking down the boxes of the things I bought so I can construct a carrying device
The grocery we use keeps boxes by the checkout. Saves them throwing them out, since they get hundreds from suppliers.
Ooh yeah I’ve seen this at a few stores, great practice.
Right. Is everyone going to clap after too?
Some, like me, will even shed tears of joy and pride, ask for selfies and autographs.
Yep and that wave of communal fervor will usher in sweeping changes reinstating the noble paper bag

Have you ever bought food before?
Different places, different laws
I’m thinking his parents are the ones that go grocery shopping.
Here you can still find paper bags (and even plastic bags if you ask). I guess the other commenter lives somewhere similar
They live in the US
Nope never I’m a lil baby
Apparently
This post is a meme.
It’s about a situation that happens in reality all the time.
And yes, it’s the reason why widespread random banning of things has usually worse results than doing nothing.
Yeah, I think this might be a meme. We need more investigation though.
