Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing on Tuesday to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on a widely watched trip aimed at showcasing the trust and “no-limits” partnership between the countries even as the war in Ukraine raged on.
In only his second known trip abroad since the Hague-based International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for him in March, Putin and his entourage flew into the Beijing Capital International Airport on Tuesday morning, according to Reuters video footage.
To me, China hating the west has always been a very strange stance that I don’t really see any good reason behind. Wish that would change because Chinese people and culture is wonderful.
I don’t think china hates the west. It’s just only interested in itself. And the way to do that is to deal with everybody and invest in everything with potential. Which is what they’re doing. That’s how I see it, at least. Maybe I’m way off.
Outside of poltitics, where there are aspects i like and dislike about china, the only part of the culture that needs to go is the familial pressure to succeed. The pressure to “succeed” in life has created a culture in where a part of its participants feel the need to cheat to gain acceptance due to failure not being an option to the mind.
To my understanding, ancient China saw the rest of the world as barbarians at worst and derivative of Chinese culture at best. I don’t know that modern China consciously feels this way, but in my opinion it’s sort of their version of America’s Manifest Destiny, a cultural memory that says “Of course it’s ours, we’re the ones with the divine right”.
