Summary

On the fourth anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol attack, Donald Trump continued to downplay the violence, calling it a “day of love” and pledging to pardon many convicted rioters.

Trump reiterated false claims about the 2020 election and criticized Mike Pence for certifying results.

President Biden countered in an op-ed, emphasizing the importance of preserving the truth about Jan. 6 as a violent assault on democracy.

Over 1,600 individuals have faced charges for the riot, with 608 charged for attacking law enforcement.

America is about to have an anti-democratic felon rapist who tries to rewrite history as its leader.

I think everyone should stop and take a moment to grasp where we are as a nation, but we all know the people that really need to do that, won’t.

Honestly, I don’t see anything but decline for this country in our lifetimes. Americans simply aren’t up to the task of responsibly maintaining a democracy. It’s truly shameful.
