As a non-American I don’t normally care about US politics or what “literally half of America” think but I am concerned with far-right politics spilling over in to my country. So I would naturally want to resist organisations aligning themselves with those politics, whether they are scandalous to Americans or not.
Why the surprise? My first thought on seeing this was there must be a lot of Australia or New Zealand answers due to the relative geographic isolation of Australia and New Zealand in relation to the rest of the first world.
I’ve always had it as a backup email so it’ll be relatively straight forward to gradually migrate. I meant more in terms of its security/privacy reputation and whether or not a CEO has said/done anything concerning.
Hmm… is Tuta still good these days?

Yes, you really need to rewrite that constitution of yours and declaring something “unconstitutional” doesn’t win you an argument, it makes you look like a brainwashed idiot. Just saying.
If it puts your mind at rest, I’ve only just heard about it now.
Really? Just about every distro I know has an archive of past releases. With WinXP I wouldn’t know where to begin.
Also “I can’t get through to them, they must be on the internet”
Terrible that you’re being downvoted for this while, currently, the top upvoted comment is someone boasting about having two cars.
I think you have to use one of the “redesigns” for it to work, or maybe it’s only in the app. Not on Old Reddit anyway.
And the fact that people flock there despite that is a way I feel more and more distant from humanity…
The only way I’ve worked out how to even save Instagram images locally is using the page information (ctrl+i) Media tab in Firefox and sort through it to find it there. Terrible for an image hosting website.
There are two sides to the coin, just as you can chose which instances to use, they’re free to run their instance how they like, which is how it should be in my opinion. I think it’s a bit strong to call it censorship; it’s their website, their servers, and if enough people don’t like it they can just not post there. This is the same freedom we had with old-style forums, because there was no monopoly in many cases you could select a forum based on if you liked how it was run.
You’re right, they have moderation control over lemmy.world posts, but it’s still your decision to post there. If you feel that strongly about it you can even chose an instance that doesn’t federate with lemmy.world, they exist.
You’ll have to sign up for a new account, yes, but is that a big loss? I mean there’s no karma here, your existing posts and account won’t go away, it’ll just not be the main account you log into any more. I personally think it’s not a bad idea to have accounts on a few instances, I’ve moved around through several.
Why are you still on lemmy.world then? The freedom offered by federation is that you get a choice.
“If it’s clean enough to put back on your body, it’s clean enough to be put back”
I think I disagree there, clothes that are clean enough to be worn for another day aren’t necessarily clean enough to be stored over a period of time. Think of it like food; there are leftovers that are probably OK to eat the next day but you would probably would want to treat them separately from your fresh food.
The only time I encounter it is when doing image searches for normal things and it seems to exist to make it maximally annoying to search for and download images. If I ever end up on Pinterest it’s just a guaranteed headache.

I guess for me would be 3-4 months in covid lockdown, 2020. I live by myself in proximity to family, but some of that family were vulnerable so I wasn’t taking any chances. Not a nice time.
