If this happens to two or three more CEOs over the next couple of months, they’ll change their position on gun control, not change their behaviors that made somebody do this. And “they’re coming for our guns” morons would find a way to not only excuse it, but fully support it, at least at first.

Agreed on every point. It’s possible. Bosses are bloated in that they’re largely ineffective and are more costly to the salary chunk of budget. If they were expected to accomplish things like workers are, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.
In reality, we should be implementing 4 8s as full time since study after study has shown that productivity actually increases when executed properly. There is measurable incentive for companies to transition to it.
Or you just stagger your workforce. Some are off Mondays, some are off Fridays, some can choose a midweek day as their regular day off. It’s not super complicated; managers just don’t want to put any effort into changing this.

Yeah, you’re probably right. I never thought “good” was on the table for him, but if he had used his wealth to get enough good things done for everybody, I could’ve overlooked a few things and thought of him as “okay”.
I was in your situation until about a week ago. It’s such a relief once the bed moves and you get to start sleeping in your new house, but the first few sleeps were not very restful for me. Try to replicate your good sleep situation as best as you can. For me, that means a fan for air flow and white noise, plus blackout curtains to block out both the sunrise and outside noises. I’m assuming you would bring all of your normal bedding stuff.
I think that the best part was waking up in the house and being able to get coffee brewing and breakfast cooking while playing some Ray Lamontagne on the stereo. Do yourself a favor and think of how you want to start your first morning in your house and set yourself up!

Fuck Musk, but the model 3 launched at like $35k and was eligible for a sizeable rebate. If you were already looking to buy a similar sized new car in 2019, it was relatively competitive. I don’t remember what the rebate amount was, but I’m sure it took at least $5k off.
The issue is that instead of continuing that trend of basically replacing the Honda Civic, he built a fugly, terrible, overpriced truck whose existence could only ever be excused by its concept being a make-a-wish request from a now-dead six year old. Alas, there are no dead six year olds to blame for that monstrosity. We should’ve had a reliable and affordable EV accessible to nearly every working family in the country. We should’ve had a whole damn fleet of EV freight trucks, possibly with some autonomous driving, at least across long interstate roads where they would just need to keep pace, stay in lane, and not crash. Instead we got a newer, dumber, more dangerous Hummer.
Again, fuck Musk. He could’ve been okay, but he chose to be awful instead.
Fucking cowards. He’s not legally immune from prosecution, it’s just DOJ policy to not prosecute a sitting president. And the recent presidential immunity opinion from the SCOTUS just said that a president is immune from being prosecuted for official presidential acts, which this fucking wasn’t. And he’s not yet a sitting president. Also, the prosecution is done. Just sentence him and then the case will be done with, and this can be done well before he’s sworn in. If he feels like appealing it after he’s sworn in, then he’s consenting to court activity while he’s in office.

Interesting. When the topic is punishment, there are plenty of resources. When the topic is helping people, it’s “who’s footing the bill for that?!” I never saw a headline about a 1400 acre ranch being offered up to house people in poverty, but it gets offered up to imprison people with the “wrong” names and skin color. And they have the audacity to parade out “America first!” as a slogan to prioritize helping Americans before worrying about solving problems around the world.
Punishing people for allegedly coming here illegally will do nothing to help me. Them allegedly having come here illegally never hurt me. Help people who have been unhoused or addicted to harmful substances or traumatized by abuse to get to a place where that can be productive in our society. That would obviously help them, and then they would be able to help their communities. It’s complicated and it’s difficult, but it’s work worth doing. I’m tired of lazy politicians and leaders looking for quick and easy solutions to fabricated problems so they can maximize the number of boxes that get checked. And that’s a generous read on it. The reality is that they’re greedy whores accepting money and power in exchange for punishing certain people while rewarding certain companies.

I really do. I think it will be more Lion King remake than Cats adaptation. But I’m ready to admit that I was wrong if people don’t line up in droves for it. I think the first will do much better than the second, because a ton of people will say “the ending sucked. It just stopped without any resolution. And there wasn’t even half the songs from Wizard of Oz.”
It really grinds my gears that they took a movie-length two act play and padded it out to chop it up into two movies. And they’ll be rewarded for it. Together, they’ll gross over $1.5 billion, maybe over 2.

I saw a little bowl with small jewelry in it like charms and earrings. Among them was the right half of a heart that read “FRIENDS” and just below that was “EVER”. I’m 100% certain that there exists somewhere the left half of that heart that reads “BEST” and “FOR” with identical formatting, and that friendship either ended dramatically or fizzled out over time.
It made me think about some previous close friendships I’ve had and how people can either just grow apart or have a violent falling out. And I wondered who in their right mind would buy just half of that best friends forever charm. Why would a thrift shop even have that available?
Kinda fascinating that an entire coming of age story can be told by just half of a piece of jewelry I found at a thrift store, and I’ll never know the truth, yet I’ll never forget it.
Same, but for some reason my wife doesn’t like the look of high refresh rate in games for the exact reason I don’t like low refresh. I played Jedi Survivor on PS5 for a little bit and felt uneasy until I found a setting to switch it from quality to performance. I was getting very mild headache and nausea symptoms until switching that, especially when spinning the camera around quickly. Running it in higher framerate also made timing in gameplay much easier. The only drawback was that cutscenes broke immersion because they were still locked at 30fps.
I really wish that game devs would prioritize achieving 60fps above 4k resolution. This question is even assuming that 60fps is the lowest acceptable option, yet it’s still not a given even at 2k yet. EA released a game in 2023 that runs in 30fps by default. I enjoyed the game overall, but it ran like dog shit, crashed multiple times, and felt a little short/barren to me. I could excuse all of that if it were a smaller company or the first year of the console’s life, but neither of those were the case in any way.
Anyway, yeah 60fps should be the bare minimum, but it still sometimes isn’t, and it literally makes me sick.
Reduce carb portions and replace with larger veggie portions, and understand that corn and potatoes and other starch vegetables are just carbs (but it seems like you already know that). You may need larger protein portions in your meals to feel more full, and that’s fine if your choosing lean proteins, which it seems like you already are.
Don’t be afraid of having fat in your diet, just avoid overly greasy stuff like too much fried food.
Overall, you’ll probably be fine to do what you’re doing, but stop insisting on having a ton of bread. Just control your portions, limit bread, and be conscious of how much sugar you’re actually eating in a day because that shit is in pretty much everything. If you’re rarely eating out and rarely eating processed crap like TV dinners and rarely drinking calories and rarely reaching for sweets and snacks, then you’re gonna do great! It takes a shitload of jogging to undo even a modest treat. Having two double stuff oreos sets you back 140 calories, which will probably take you about a mile and a half to work off. If you ask me, oreos just ain’t fucking worth it lol.
