Google has confirmed that the Device Lock Controller app should not be listed on the Google Play Store for users in the U.S., and they will work to take down the listing.

Otherwise, all that gesticulating about the ‘international rules based order’ and all that outrage at Russian war crimes is just empty posturing. And justifying war crimes because the enemy has committed them renders the Geneva convention meaningless.

I’m all for supporting instances and open source developers, but any kind of reward for a donation creates wrong incentives. Donation is called a donation because it’s a gift without expecting something in return.
They are not getting paid anything in this case. Usually they get paid by the state when doing work there, but since they were federalized they are under federal juridistion now and won’t get paid by the state for deployment. And Trump isn’t providing federal funds, hence them sleeping on the floor, having to pay for food themselves, using their own equipment.
