Not that I don’t believe what’s being said here, but can anybody who speaks Hebrew confirm the subtitles are accurate translations?

This is from the Tantura documentary, about the 1948 massacre of the Palestinian village Tantura. Highly recommend giving it a watch. It’s absolutely chilling.

I don’t speak Hebrew, but saw this documentary, it’s made by Israelis. The quote is correct. The whole documentary is filled with dudes like this “oh yeah, I’m a murderer, but my wife doesn’t know, it happened, what am I going to do about that hahaha”; beyond disgusting.

I’m fluent in Hebrew. The translations are accurate. The only thing that stands out is he says the monster with the submachine gun “swapped/magazines”, as is he emptied one and swapped to a new one. The laughing imo is coping/senility. I’ve known lots of old Israelis like this guy and lots are terribly racist, I do believe that the army is more organized than it was during Nakba. Whether that means they are better at hiding atrocities or preventing the…idk. Growing up in Israel we were told we had the most moral army in the world. They brainwash you in the IDF (like most militaries), with the goal of making the 18 year old draftees okay with their role in war. I am certain that in the coming decades there will be more of these tell all type videos from gen z Israelis coming to terms with their actions.

Yeah, the smiling seems more like desensitization. He doesn’t seem to promote, excuse or justify the crimes. He knows they were horrific.

War is hell. None are moral. The difference is that some are completely unjustifiable (e.g. aggression or imperialism vs self-defence). Human rights abuses, rape, murdering civilians, torture, and psychopathy are present in every single warzone in history, and committed by both sides; though the volume of crimes can be extremely lopsided.
