TOKYO – Japanese manga artist Akira Toriyama, famous around the world for the “Dragon Ball” series and “Dr. Slump,” among other works, died on March 1, publisher Shueisha Inc. has announced.
Very sad. He created an incredible world enjoyed across the globe.
My cousin after hearing this: WTF. Collect the Dragon Balls.
He’s the creator of the Dragon Balls. Without him, they are powerless. :(
As someone that has been a fan of his work for close to thirty years, I’m absolutely gutted. Whether you like Dragon Ball or not, you’d be a fool to not recognise the significance of what he had created, including work like Dr Slump and his work on Chrono Trigger. It’s also sad that he has died without seeing the reaction to his latest work, so hopefully Toyotorou can continue his legacy.
RIP Akira. Not only was he a legend in manga/anime but also a huge part of the RPG boom and DQ and Chrono Trigger. I hope he knew much his art meant to people all over the world.
Fuck, man. DBZ was a huge part of my childhood. Toriyama is a legend.
Great, we’ll never find the One Piece.
Aw. Damn… His work had an impact on so many, myself included. Really sad news.
mexico in shambles rn
