This is a frustrating topic to discuss since on one hand there’s not much conclusive evidence, but plenty of suggestive circumstantial evidence.
IF this is real, then the evidence is likely held by the governments and therefore any progress in public understanding would be driven by politics rather than science.
What makes me skeptical is how this would be kept secret world-wide. Ok, the US government conceivably could, but there are likely many countries which should have strong evidence in their hands, and it seems unlikely that they all could successfully coordinate on this for so long, across regime changes etc.
Dude claims he has actual physical proof of aliens in our solar system…
But he won’t show it to anyone
Because it’s not real
That’s not true. The material has been sent to multiple independent laboratories for analysis. Why are you spreading false information here? And do you understand that a thorough scientific analysis and publishing research takes time?
Edit: Since you’re putting words in his mouth in an attempt to discredit the validity of the subject, here is an actual quote:
“It has material strength that is tougher than all space rock that were seen before, and catalogued by NASA,” added Loeb, "We calculated its speed outside the solar system. It was 60 km per second, faster than 95% of all stars in the vicinity of the sun. The fact that it was made of materials tougher than even iron meteorites, and moving faster than 95% of all stars in the vicinity of the sun, suggested potentially it could be a spacecraft from another civilization or some technological gadget." That’s not stating definitely that he has proof of aliens. It’s also the first time material from an interstellar object has been recovered on Earth. This is an exciting development for the scientific community and mankind, but it’s unfortunately being convoluted by people who are too ignorant and narrow-minded to objectively consider the information.
So…
He’s sent it to multiple labs and none of them have backed up his opinion?
You’re right, I just assumed he wasn’t showing anyone, but if he’s showing it to everyone that will look and none agree with him, it makes sense why he doesn’t talk about it
You either have very poor reading comprehension or you’re engaging in disingenuous argumentative strategies intended to blanket discredit without honest consideration or information exchange.
Oh…
So you’re saying at least one of the “many” labs he sent it to agree that it’s proof of aliens?
I’d love a link, you’d think that would be front page news…
I feel like I’m arguing with an anti-vaxxer here… you’re still misrepresenting his claims and the situation.
He sent the material to labs in order to analyze them for their chemical structure. Not “Hey, prove these are from an alien spaceship!”
He also has not claimed definitively that they are from an alien spaceship, as you keep falsely claiming. He has stated that it’s molecular structure, trajectory, speed, etc. are all very unusual and that it could be indicative of a piece of manufactured technology, such as a probe, which collided into our planet.
That is what Avi Loeb has claimed. Not the ignorant misinformation you’re peddling in the comments here.
So…
It doesn’t prove anything, but he keeps saying it does?
I don’t know why I expected any consistent logic. Having “proof” that doesn’t prove anything is pretty standard for ufo enthusiasts.
Gotta set a pretty low bar these since it’s easy to disprove this shit.
I’ll let you get back to it, I heard Walmart has a sale on Reynolds wrap, so I’m sure you’ve got to going with your day
Link to all these instances in which Avi Loeb claims definitively this is proof of aliens. Not where he says it “suggests” but where you claim he definitely states it’s proof.
Let’s see it. Put up, or shut up.
I guess it makes sense for the public to remain skeptical until the findings are confirmed. Yes; “Science must bring clarity”. Debate will not.
Loeb is based and people who think UFOs or potential interstellar material readily retrievable at the seabed shouldn’t be studied is out of his/her mind.
Here is some info on the few studies conducted on UAP so far. NASA is starting research on them as well but likely won’t bring nearly as much as Garry Nolan’s study of materials did or the Galileo Project will. I have good faith in this community, I think most people aren’t so narrow-minded ignorant.
If anyone’s knee-jerk reaction here is to dismiss this subject as crackpot, I strongly encourage you to read my post in which I have gathered a tremendous amount of evidence supporting the existence of UAP, as in physical crafts that possess breakthrough/disruptive technology.
Doesn’t mean aliens, and whether or not they are of terrestrial origin has no bearing on whether or not the objects themselves exist, which they do.
Just because the general public and media haven’t caught up, it doesn’t mean this is an erroneous subject. Like Avi Loeb here who leads Harvard’s Galileo Project, scientists and physicists are beginning to lend this subject credence and study it scientifically.
I am a very skeptical person. If you consider yourself an open-minded, scientifically oriented, rational thinker, than approach my post with healthy skepticism (as you should). But if you dismiss it outright without consideration, then you’re engaged in an intellectually dishonest approach to the subject.
It’s absurd to dismiss this reality when there are events in which there are video, radar, and expert eye-witness accounts that all corroborate one another.
What the fuck is this site’s fascination with this nonsense? In all my time on Reddit, moronic UFO content got the attention it deserved and was downvoted all to hell. It would rarely enter my home page. On Lemmy? Seems like every other day some idiot is posting ufo fairytales that get enough attention to make a regular appearance in my feed.
