South Africa presented a powerful and compelling case that Israel is violating the Genocide Convention.

Would love to see this used in future headlines. “Most moral army in the world kills civilians hiding in a church” or “Most moral army in the world bombs refugee camp” or maybe most poignantly, “Most moral army in the world convicted of genocide”

Unfortunately the ICJ has no enforcement mechanism. The upshot is that the ICC does, and they’re investigating the conflict as well.

Main benefit is putting pressure on allies, especially the US, to stop sending weapons etc. Israel might not give a fuck but the US does. I think that’s why Israel is worried about the whole thing.

The ICC is also not a UN body and, notably, lacks the membership of the most powerful geopolitical players (the USA, China, Russia, India) as well as much of Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

        It’s useless.

If you’ve been called before a Genocide hearing, you don’t have a moral army. Full stop.

Referring to any group of people who’s job it is to kill other groups of people as “moral” seems like a bit of an oxymoron to me. I get that the scale can tip really fucking far to the evil side but how close to the good side is it even possible to get?

I’m genuinely not trying to be rude with this:

referring to any group of people who’s job it is . . .

        Whose* job it is

Thank you for coming to my ted talk

Tell that to the hundreds of thousands of Gazans who are starving to death as a result of the actions of the Israeli army.

The most moral army in the world? They use the Hannibal protocols, which say to kill hostages so long as you kill your enemy.

    They are blood thirsty monsters.

Only moral armies in the world are in Cuba, Loas, Vietnam, and China because these are the only armies that serve the people as opposed to serving an oligarchy.

I recommend you read about the French conquest of Algeria. It is how it is most likely to go for Israel. I’m sure you would have supported the French too then.
