“He’s told us what he will do. It’s very easy to see the steps that he will take. People who say, ‘Well, if he’s elected, it’s not that dangerous because we have all of these checks and balances,’ don’t fully understand the extent to which the Republicans in Congress today have been co-opted. One of the things that we see happening today is a sort of a sleepwalking into dictatorship in the United States. If you look at what Donald Trump is trying to do, he can’t do it by himself. He has to have collaborators. And the story of Mike Johnson is a story of, of a collaborator and of someone who knew then – and knows now – that what he’s doing and saying is wrong, but he’s willing to do it in an effort to please Donald Trump. And that’s what makes it dangerous.” – Former Rep. Liz Cheney, speaking to CBS News.

Maybe your pops shouldn’t have done all he could to empower the fascist “unitary executive” theory then, Liz. I mean, I agree with her in principle in this specific instance but it’s tough when her dad is a huge reason we’re in this mess.

This is purely an outsiders perspective here, but I’ve never really had much control over what my dad did in his life. Is it different in the US?

My dad is deeply troubled about where our party is, deeply troubled about where the country is,” Cheney, R-Wyo., said at an event held by the Aspen Institute, adding that her father, who served with former President George W. Bush, is a “tremendous source of advice and guidance and wisdom.”

        She’s part of the problem.

Yeah sure. You are probably right. But also not the main part of the problem? I mean, I’m not trying to paint her as a savior or a saint, but she’s also not actively trying to dismantle the system, right? There’s a lot of that going around, from way too many of her colleagues, as far as I can tell. Idk, it just seemed like a nice thing, for someone to call out many of these horrid tendencies we’ve been seeing lately, and as far as hypocrites go, you can find way worse than Liz Cheney.

I agree with that. I respect that she had a spine when the rest of her party did not and she was willing to pay for that principled stand. I still have an issue with her selective blindness towards her father’s actions as VP but it’s at least an understandable human characteristic for many to put their parents up on a pedestal.

The system is broken and the Bush Family is a big reason why it is. This is part of some bullshit to get liberals like you to accept the GoP as “moderate” when in actuality there is no difference between Bush and Co and Trump. Trump was just loud about it and the reason Cheney doesn’t like him. If you actually compare Bush and Trump I think trump comes out ahead as far as atrocities and fascism go.

            Don’t fall for it.

Don’t assume so much about me please. This other guy sent me a link about how cheney wanted to balkanize China and Russia, and maybe that’s not the worst idea. But it got me thinking. Why stop there? Balkanize the US too why not. They are, all three, too big and ducked up anyway. Also, an outsiders perspective, remember? I don’t really have a dog in this fight. Ofc the world will suffer bigly, if Trump, and the fascists backing him, gets their will. But we all know this. So why not at least try to focus on a glimmer of compassion once in a while?

I agree people are a good mix of good and bad but I have trouble seeing much of any good in war profiteer Dick Cheney. He’s down there with Kissinger in my mind.

Yes. If he wins, the Trumps will rule the USA for a long long time, and you guys can kiss your beloved constitution goodbye.

IDK, he’s like 80yo, he can’t really have that much time left. I think it’s more likely that, assuming he gets elected, he has a heart attack before he finishes his term and the VP (whoever that is) takes over.

First of all no that isn’t what will happen except in your weird tom clancy fever dreams. Second, the US should be on it’s 10th or so constitutional rework anyway.

He already tried to take it by force. We literally have it on video.
He’s already released statements about doing this.

You obviously haven’t been paying attention. Or are arguing in bad faith.

Your 10th rework comment is simply laughable. Pray tell when we’re we ever going to get 2/3 of Congress to agree???

Guessing your post history is pro Russia red pill sov cit bs.

Liberals long for the bush/clinton years, it was a big reason Hillary Clinton still has the support she has.

Well, if you trust a guy who already tried to overturn the government to reform your constitution , I guess you deserve what you get. Trump only cares about one thing, himself. If you cant see that, you are deeply brainwashed, sorry to inform you. He will throw you and your people under the bus at the very second and will see no use in you, like he does every damn day.
